1st Thursdays

“Orlando’s original art party” is the award-winning 1st Thursdays presented by the Associates, the OMA’s volunteer support group committed to expanding OMA membership and encouraging the appreciation of the visual arts. From 6 - 9 pm on the first Thursday of each month, OMA showcases a new theme with works by local artists, live music, cash bars serving wine, beer and soft drinks, and café offerings from area restaurants.

Plus, 1st Thursdays guests receive free entrance to the OMA’s exhibitions. Admission to 1st Thursdays is free for OMA members and $10 for non-members. Parking is free at Orlando Loch Haven Park and overflow parking is available at the Orlando Science Center's parking garage for $5 per vehicle.

Since the Renaissance, art and science have depicted the search for life and the origins of the universe. Works in this show will highlight the latest advances in science today from astronomy and environment down to nanotechnology through science-oriented art media.

Culture Shock

Art about cultures in other countries/societies or counter cultures within our own society. Held in collaboration with Ten Thousand Villages of Orlando in their efforts to increase community awareness of the principals and meaning of ‘fair trade,’ especially in third world countries.

The Orlando/Berlin Connection

Let the cultural exchange begin. Berlin is one of the hottest locations in the world today for contemporary art and this exhibit brings together works by Berlin artists who will travel here and Orlando artists who will have traveled to Berlin, much like the Orlando Furioso exchange with Milan.

Hardly a Liquid

The phrase hard as glass is pretty common. Although solid at room temperature, glass is actually classified as a liquid. Artists will melt it, bend it, break it, glue it, to give us their three-dimensional representation of this versatile material.
